I'm going to Auckland!

Hello All!
This is just a quick note to say that tomorrow my younger sister, Jessica, and I are going up to Auckland (the biggest city here in New Zealand) to visit our grandparents, aunty and uncle! As you can imagine, we are very excited, paticularly as it is not often that we get to go places in an aeroplane! I shall miss seeing Daisy and all my other friends, as it is the holidays :( and I won't be able to help Daisy with a special project much as a result (don't worry,  we shall reveal all at some stage . . . !) However, on the whole, I am looking forward to having a lovely break and seeing my rellies again. Be warned: the family camera is coming with us, so be prepared for an onslaught of posts about our "Auckland Adventures"!!!
From your very excited blogger,
Violet (and her sister, Jessica)

A little find . . .

It’s not often I stumble across some writing that I had completely forgotten about, but today that happened! And as I haven’t posted anything of my own for a fair while, I thought it was about time I shared some of my own writing. :) Please excuse the fact that these poems are not very sophisticated or well written: I really am no poet!

I must confess that these two poems actually spoke very loudly to my conscience, as Bible readings and prayer times are two things I have been struggling with a lot recently – so your prayers for me  would be much appreciated! I find it so easy to prioritise other things over and above my times with the Lord in prayer and reading His word. So these two poems struck my heart and reminded me of the very things I had been neglecting lately, which were clearly my focus two years ago when I was writing them.

Lord, help me I pray to spend more time with you! Help me to focus on John 3:30 which says that “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Forgive me, Father, for the many times when I am filled with self-centeredness and a desire only to look out for my own interests, and not the interests of others, the times when I deliberately do not give You much time in my day. Thank you, Father, that you are helping me in this area, and for making sure that I saw these two poems today and was reminded of You. :) In Your name, amen.

Anyway, here is my “little find”; the two little poems I (Violet) wrote.

BibleBible

Smoothly bound book
Sitting on bookshelf
Collecting dust
Waiting . . . waiting to be read.

No ordinary book.
No ordinary message.
Yet unwanted.
Waiting . . . waiting to be read.

Then, one glorious day
Hands reach up, take it down.
A message is read
New hope, fresh understanding
Hands clasped in prayer.

Prayer

Hushed voice
That only God can hear.
Clasped hands
Begging His forgiveness.

Beating heart
Knowing His presence
Fervent mind
Thinking words too glorious to say.
Opened eyes
With renewed knowledge
They have glimpsed God's glory
And been in His presence.

Leslie Ludy on True Beauty

Yes, everyone, I know that it’s another YouTube post! To be honest, I am getting tired of posting YouTube clips (lovely as they are!) and so I promise you, dear readers, that my next post will be my own original work!!!

This video is Leslie Ludy's thoughts on True Beauty, which  I first saw on Melanie's blog, Forever His Servant. It really made me pause and think about how little I really have that true beauty in my life. My life reflects a continual pursuit of my own interests, and so the form of beauty shown in this video is really what I need to strive after: a sacrificial life lived for Christ!

I’d really love to hear your thoughts on this topic, as it’s something I’m really struggling with and trying to think through at the moment, so feel free to comment below as I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Violet

Lindsey Stirling music

Now I know that most of you, our readers, will be sick of hearing music at the moment, as we have been posting so much of it lately! However, for lack of anything else inspiring to write, I thought I should show you this amazing violinist anyway. While I personally don’t like all her music or all of her dance moves, I do love the music that I’ve posted here! So I hope you like listening to them!
God bless!
Violet

River Flows in You:
I first saw this on Ella's blog, The Door in the Air, and I loved the sound of the harp combined with the violin in it so much that I knew I would have to imitate Ella at some stage by posting it up on our blog! I also love the effect of the flowers in the background of it – it really suits the floral theme of this blog!

Lord of the Rings Medley:
I confess it: I am a Lord of the Rings fan! Any excuse to listen to music from it really excites me. And I love her dress in this! :)

The Gothard Sisters–The Three Coins

Yes, I know, I couldn’t resist posting another one! Smile This one was composed by Willow Gothard.

The Gothard Sisters–Scarborough Fair

I was just browsing through some music on You Tube today, and I stumbled across this lovely trio. It is made up of three sisters; Greta, Willow and Solana. They seem to really enjoy Celtic style music and dancing which is just what Daisy and I enjoy! I was even more impressed to discover that they have also composed many songs and published several CD’s which can be purchased. I highly recommend that you check out their website: http://gothardsisters.weebly.com/ You will not be disappointed!

I really love this version they have come up with of Scarborough Fair, and the neat costuming they have used, which really adds to the effect, and something I love about all their music videos. So enjoy!

Be prepared for upcoming posts on the Gothard Sisters!

Riverdance!!

Well, I had a great treat this weekend - my mother took me, my brother and my grandparents down to our capital city of Wellington, which is about two hours away from my home town, and treated us to going to see the world famous show "Riverdance"!!!!! :D It was such a great day. We had a lovely trip there and back, and the show was, as expected, incredible!

Such a pretty rose ♥
On the way up, we stopped at a small roadside cafe. It was from the same chain as the one Violet and I stopped at on the way to camp (see here:), but this one was called River Cottage Cafe. It was also a really beautiful little place, and my brother and I had fun taking photos there!

And such a stunning lily!! :D
From there, we drove straight on to the heart of Wellington city, and made our way to the gorgeous old St James Theatre, where Riverdance was to take place! :D The St James is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful theatres I have ever been in, and guess what I found out today - Violet has performed on that very stage (okay, so it was in a school play when she was very little, but still!!). Was I jealous to hear that! ;) The only problem with it is that it is very steeply inclined, and hard to move around in, as it can make you feel a bit dizzy being right in the top. And that was where we were sitting :P. It was a bit of a mission to get my grandparents all the way up there, but they made it, and we were in for a real treat - a fantastic, totally unblocked view of the stage! :D

The view down to the stage from my
seat :D
Oh, the show!!!! ♥ I can honestly say that Riverdance was one of the most amazing, incredible, well polished, and stunning stage shows I have ever seen - and believe me, as a stage director, I don't say that lightly :D. I loved Riverdance! If you ever have a chance to go and see it, definitely go, it is a real treat! The dancing was, as expected, incredible, and the music was BEAUTIFUL!!! I am in love with this song from the second half of the show, especially from about 3 minutes into it. I got goosebumps hearing it live. So I just had to share it with you all. I hope you will find it goose-bumpy too haha, but maybe it was just me who loved it so much, being both addicted to Celtic music and a singer. I have to say, I liked the singer who sung the solo at our show better myself, and I liked the ladies outfit's more - they were Celtic style dresses, both much prettier and more modest :D. But anyway, here is the song!! Enjoy it!! :)

Well anyway, that is enough about the show for now. I could go on and on for hours about how amazing it was, but I don't want to, in case any of you go and see it, and I spoil it for you!! :P I will just say this, the one thing I didn't feel quite comfy with the one part right at the beginning of the show, when the narration sounds a bit like they are worshipping the sun... but other than that this is a good, clean, enjoyable show!! I highly recommend it to all!! :D

After the show was home, we headed right home, but along the way we made one stop, at some beautiful rocks on the roadside. My brother and I had fun exploring the rocks and rockpools, and taking some photos!! :) Here are a few of my favourites:
Well anyway, that's more than enough from me for now!! But I will be back soon, let me assure you :D Hope you all have a great week!!

God bless,
Daisy ♥

My friend is shaving her hair off to raise money for her friend who has Cancer!

Hi all!

I just thought I’d let you all know, that my friend (whom I will refer to as H), is shaving her hair off to raise money for Cancer. This is because her friend has cancer and so the money is going towards her treatment.

I think this is true, sacrificial friendship – to sacrifice something you value for a friend! :) This is especially true of H, as her hair is down to her waist! It is so nice of you, H! I hope it all goes well and that you raise lots of money for your friend!

♫ I Love The Way You Hold Me ♪

I absolutely LOVE this song from Christian artists, Jamie Grace and tobyMac. It is talking about how no matter what, God is always there for us, holding us close, and giving us the strength we need to go on! ♥
And also, I found this great quote earlier, that I just HAD to share with you:
"If God brought you to it, He will take you through it!" So good, and so true, right?!
Anyway, that's enough from me for right now, but I have a lot more coming for you all soon ;) :D.
Love,
Daisy ♥

Meditations of His Love: Consider it All Joy

I saw this post on the blog Meditations of His Love and it was so good that I just had to share the link to it with you all! My prayer is that the Lord would use it to strengthen you and build you up if you are going through hard times, just as He used it to minister to my soul this week.

I must confess that the part that says "Consider it all joy!/When your heart starts to break/And the tears come unbidden and strong." describes pretty accurately how I've been recently! It's when we are facing trials that the true nature of our walk with Christ is revealed, and often it is pretty ugly! I for one have discovered that I am still learning to trust in God and that His hand is working in each and every circumstance, and so therefore, I ought to continue to be joyful even when things don't go my way. But like a spoiled child, I often turn in anger at God, blaming Him for what is often the natural consequences of my own sin or the sins of others. So like Sarah H. has, I challenge you all to apply James 1:2-4 to your lives today. I know that this will be a real challenge for me!

"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

So I want to say thank you so much to Sarah H. for posting the blog article. Thank you, Sarah, it really helped in my walk with Christ this week! May the Lord bless you richly as you serve Him!

So, here is the link to this post, and I highly recommend you read it!

Your sister in Christ,

Violet: Hymns I Love #2–It Is Well With My Soul

This is probably my favourite hymn of all time! It is well worth reading about it’s composer, Horatio G. Spafford, and the trials he went through before writing this hymn. You can find out more about him here. And I think that it’s interesting that it’s Joni Eareckson Tada who is singing in this version of the song, for she herself has also suffered a lot (go to Joni Eareckson Tada).

My recommendation? Play or sing this song whenever you are going through trials – it really has helped me!

It is Well With My Soul (Lyrics)
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain:
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

Refrain
