If Everyone Cared

Okay, so I'm not really a big fan of Nickelback - most of their music is pretty dodgy! - but this particular music video by them is amazing. I found it  really, really inspiring, and I just had to share it with you all!
What if everyone really did care?
What if everyone, every single person tried to make a positive difference?
I heard an amazing saying once - I don't remember where it was from, but here it is anyway:
"I want to spend my life making a difference, and really helping people wherever I can. If I make a difference to just 50 individuals during my lifetime, and if they each then go on to make a difference to 50 more people, imagine the wave we could create. By making even a small difference in one person's life, you could help to change the future."

Hope that inspired you as much as it did me!!
Love, Daisy xo

The Hobbit Trailers

I’m so excited about the upcoming Hobbit movies, particularly as I love the Lord of the Rings series. Honestly, everybody should read the book or watch the movie: I am not normally into fantasy but this one kept me transfixed right up until the end! Also, the Hobbit films have been made here in New Zealand, making it of special significance to me and other kiwis, who are filled with a sense of pride in seeing our beautiful country on the big screen.

I was doubly excited when the new trailer came out today – so much so that I thought I’d share it with you all. Enjoy watching!

And here is another trailer for it that was released earlier this year:

For those (like me!) who are really excited, there are some production videos about the production process online, which you can look up on YouTube. :)

Bubble Tea!!!

(Postscript: This post has been a long time in coming, so sincere apologies as this happened several weeks ago)!

Sometimes our inital perceptions can be wrong.

That is what I discovered a few weeks ago when Daisy, Sakura and I went to the Black Pearl Cafe where I had my first taste of a wonderful drink called bubble tea! I was quite wary of tasting it at first, but Daisy and Sakura were all too happy to educate me and I have come to the conclusion that while it still cannot outrank Daisy's amazing magic cordial (see this post) as my favourite drink, it is certianly a must try for everyone! Below are some lovely photos taken from our outing:

Yay, bubble tea!!!
Our bubble tea (from L to R): Violet's, Sakura's, Daisy's!

Cheesy grins as we enjoy our bubble tea

More cheesy grins!

Um...yes, we kind of destroyed the bubble tea covers!

Afterwards we went out for a walk and quick photo shoot!

Three friends: Daisy, Violet and Sakura

What a wonderful day!!! :) Thanks to Sakura for doing this amazing collage!
Thank you, Daisy and Sakura for all the wonderful times we've been able to spend together so far and I hope we'll have many more to come!!! Below are some lovely quotes I found recently which I think really sum up our friendship (all pictures curteousy of Pinterest):

DAISY, SAKURA & VIOLET: FRIENDS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST FOREVER!!!
Have a blessed week, both of you! :)

The Secrets of Happy People

I have a few different, and totally unrelated things to share with you tonight :D There was something Violet asked me to say, but I have totally forgotten what is was, so I will just have to say it next time I post instead, sorry Violet :P

Anyhow... First up, I decided to share these two really beautiful photos of Violet!! :) The first one is from her birthday tea the other day (taken by Sakura), and the second one I took this afternoon, when we were at the park down the road from my house. I must admit, I am rather proud of that picture - even though I took it by accident :P I can still claim it, right?? ;) Either way, I think these are both gorgeous pictures of Violet. She is such a beautiful woman of God, both inside and out! :D

And then I decided to share a few of my new favourite quotes with you!! :)

"Forget all the reasons why it won't work, and believe the one reason why it will!" ~Unknown~

"Always be a first rate version of yourself, rather than a second rate version of someone else." ~Judy Garland~

"The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday."

Those last three I took off Pinterest. I've discovered that to be a wonderful place to quench my thirst for inspiring quotes!! :D

And lastly, I found this video the other day, and decided it was well worth sharing!! It was made by Bubzbeauty, a youtuber from Hong Kong, who does a lot of amazing make up tutorials on how to enhance your natural beauty, as well as giving advice on things, and lots of other stuff too. And she's a Christian, which is extra cool xD But yeah, this video is her take on the secrets of truly happy people. I really liked it, and it is very true!! :) There are one or two little things I don't necessarily fully agree with (or more just the ways she puts them), but I really enjoyed it, and it has a really good message!! So I hope you like it/get something from it!!

Well, that's it from me for now, but I'm sure I'll be back soon :D God bless you all!!

More Photos!

Hi all!

I just thought I'd post a few more photos of the amazing day I had!

Table set for tea!
I love the sunshine in this photo - it was a beautiful spring day!
A ladies' tea fare: scones and jam!

A lovely cake made for me by a friend - thank you so much! :)

YUM! Cupcakes with sprinkles.
I was very pleased with my cupcakes as I am an atrocious cook, so they took a concerted amount of effort along with several, um, issues, but the end result was satisfactory which really made my day!!!

Thank you so much to everyone who came and made it such a lovely time.... especially Daisy, Lily, Hyacinth and Sakura!

What An Exciting Day!

Well, today has been one crazy day, but also one I'm sure neither Violet, nor I, will ever forget!!
It all began with Violet's ladies tea party, to celebrate her birthday!
Me (Daisy), Sakura (our soon-to-be fellow blogger here on
Violets and Daisies), Violet and another friend of ours!
I went over to Violet's first thing in the morning, and helped her to set it up. We set out all the tea things on the table (including sugar lumps, much to Violet's delight!), and scones out on a really pretty tiered tea-tray, which Violet had bought with her birthday money. It  made the table look really lovely! Then we got changed into our outfits. Violet wore her dress from when she played Juliet in a homeschool movie of Romeo and Juliet a few years ago. I ended up wearing a skirt belonging to my Mum haha. All the girls looked really pretty, dressed up!! And we had such a good time. We played games like  Guess The Classical Literature Book Title (a very Violet-ish game!) and Psychiatrist (I loooove this game) and then we had our tea party! Violet's little sister served us as the maid, which made it feel very grown up and posh :D
Violet asked me to add this one - its off Pinterest,
and it is one of her favourite quotes :D

The Ladies: Hyacinth, Sakura, a friend of ours, Violet, another
friend of ours, me (Daisy), and Violet's two younger sisters!
A failed attempt at a Victorian photo :P
Me (Daisy) and Sakura
After the party, we had the first proper rehearsal for our Christmas musical!! After we had changed, my mum picked Violet, Sakura and I up. Sakura and I are the choreographers for the play, so we spent the next hour or so getting things ready for the dancers, whilst my Mum, who is the musical director, started work with the choir. Violet is my wonderful secretary, so she was kept busy sorting forms, and taking photos! Here are a few of the photos she took of us in our costumes for the Chinese dance from yesterday, as well as some from today's rehearsal!
We really liked the effect of this one!
In our costumes - so exciting!!!! :D
Me (Daisy) bossing all the dancers around :P
We ended up teaching 4 different dances today, so Sakura and I were reaaally tired by the end, but we'd had a great time!! :) And Violet and I got lots of planning done, which was great too.
And that was when things got um, interesting...

Whilst us three girls were finishing off the last dance of the rehearsal, my Mum went off to pick something up, and was about to head back to us, but the van wouldn't start. At all. So she had to walk quite a way, in the rain, back to the church where were practising. I forgot to check my phone, so we had no idea where she was. But we just thought she was running late, so we proceeded to pack up, and Sakura headed home. Then my poor mother turned up - rain drenched, and not particularly happy. But then a family friend came and rescued us (Violet says "damsels in distress"), and took us home to get the other car.

We had to rush from there to one of my singing practices, then over to where our van was stranded. Whilst we were waiting for the tow-truck to turn up, Mum treated Violet and I to a yummy dinner at a nearby cafe. Then we had the exciting experience of watching our van being towed away. I think the other people on the street enjoyed it too haha. Violet in particular was highly amused. She also had the great privilege of getting to hold onto the van's contents in a massive carry bag, whilst I photographed the happenings!

WHAT AN EXCITING DAY!

Happy Birthday Hyacinth!! :) ♥

Happy, happy, birthday, my beautiful, amazing friend, Hyacinth!
I hope you have a really wonderful day today, and also at your birthday celebration on Monday!! :) ♥
Hyacinth (closest to the camera) in the show we put on
last year
I remember the first time I met you - I was really shy (uncharacteristically, I know :P) and I didn't really want to say hello. Neither did you, but I'm so, so glad our mums made us, because I truly don't know what I'd do without you and your wonderful friendship!! Hyacinth, you are an amazing person, and I love you so much. I really admire your gentle, serving spirit, and the kind attitude with which you treat everyone. I love the way we can be so crazy together, and yet also be really serious. I love that we can talk about ANYTHING at all.   I love spending time with you - playing soccer, writing stories, making movies, dancing...
Hyacinth, thank you so much for the friendship you have shared with me over the years - I hope that we will stay as friends for many, many more years onwards!! I love you so much!!
Lily and Hyacinth - I love this photo!!
Have a wonderful day!! I look forward to seeing you later!!
God bless, and lots of love from Daisy (and my family!!) xoxoxox ♥

When You Have Exams

Well, it's all over! I had my last exam today, and so I thought I'd do a quick post about my experiences during that time as I haven't posted in a while!

Me (looking tired partway through exams!) and Daisy

Things that make you go "Ahhh..." :)

  • When your friends surprise you with heaps of flowers which make your room look lovely and sunshiney (thanks so much Daisy!)
  • I (Violet) arranging the lovely daffodils Daisy gave me! :)
  • When you get all in a panic about passing an exam, and your little brother comes and helps you by asking you questions off flashcards. (This was really cute as he is still learning to read and so it took him quite a bit of effort, especially as there were some Maori words mixed in, but he stuck determindly at it and was a brilliant help)! Thank you so much, little brother! :)

Things that make you go "Eeek!"
  • When you think about all the memorizing you've done and still have to do, and then you stop and realize that you'll have to do it all over again at the end of the year!
  • When you get to an exam along with all your classmates and find ... no teacher and no exam papers!!! (Fortunately, that one was soon sorted out, but was very funny as everyone except for us had forgotten we had an exam!)
  • When you wake up at 3.30am the night before a major exam, look down and spot something on your arm. You turn on the light and discover it's a HUGE cockroach! So you get a jar to try and trap it, and as you are walking to the door to put it outside, you discover it's escaped and is crawling up your arm again. Of course, you scream and your mother wakes up and comes running....Well, let's just say that all that was all true - no embellishments!
I agree with the last sentence! :) That's what I felt like! Image from Pinterest
Yuck - clearly I've done too much exam revision to be posting about cockroaches, of all things! :p

Look out for some neat posts coming soon! :)

Happy Birthday Violet!! :) ♥

There are two reasons why this day is a special one - it is the first rehearsal for our Christmas play, but the real reason  I am celebrating today is because it is Violet's birthday!!!!!!
To my beautiful, amazing, wonderful, loyal friend Violet,

I just want to wish you a very, very happy birthday!! I know it is going to be a busy day for you, but I hope you get a chance to actually celebrate sometime today as well, because this is one very special occasion!! ♥

Violet, we are as different as different can be, but you are one truly amazing friend, and I would be totally LOST without you, and your advice, your sense of humour, your stories, your creativity, and your hardworking, wise, kind, gentle, serving attitude. People from everywhere truly look up to you so much! I hope that one day I will grow to be the kind of Godly woman you are!! :)

I can still remember the first birthday party of yours I attended, all those years ago. I remember the two of us dominating the conversation hehe. I promise I'll try not to do that again this year ;) Violet, I want to thank you so much for all of your years of friendship. I love you so much!! I am always thankful to the Lord for you - your friendship, and the friendship of Lily and Hyacinth  was an answer to prayer for me, and I am truly grateful for every moment of friendship we have been able to share. I pray that we will be able to spend many, many more years as friends, and that the Lord blesses you with many, many more birthdays.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, Violet.
Lots of love, and God bless from Daisy (and my family too!) xoxoxo ♥
