No Turning Back

One of my favourite ever Bible passages has always been in Matthew 4, where Jesus calls His disciples. My favourite verse is "Jesus said: Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. So they left their nets and followed Him."
That has always amazed me, that last part of that verse. For when you think about it, in that very sentence, those men (the disciples) surrendered their everything to Jesus. They were fishermen by trade, so in leaving their nets, they were walking away from not just their livelihood, but their family, their income, their sense of security, their status in the community - everything. And yet, they lost nothing. In fact, they gained so much more than they could have ever imagined - they gained new life. And there is never any record of Jesus and His disciples going short of anything they needed.
So, I guess the question posed to us is, will we be like those disciples? Will we let go of our nets - our comfort things - and follow God? Are we prepared to let go of the illusion of control in life, and go where the Lord leads us? Are we prepared to let go of what we want, and take on the gift of serving Him, as fishers of men?

I heard this song for the first time the other day, and for me it really related...
"I will follow You... I will follow You....
No turning back...No turning back
No turning back....No turning back!
This is my heart cry,
Though none go with me.
The cross before me, the world behind me.

I will follow You...I will follow You...
No turning back...No turning back
No turning back...No turning back!
This is my anthem
My life for Your fame
My every move bring
Glory to Your name
I will follow You...I will follow You
No turning back...No turning back
No turning back...No turning back!

The cross before me, the world behind me!
I will follow, I will follow!
The cross before me, the world behind me!
I will follow, I will follow!"

So let us let go of our own desires and follow, with our eyes on the cross, and let us be fishers of men!
Lots of love,

My Week in Photos

The last week has been pretty amazing, and I just felt like sharing some of it with all of you :)
Here are some photos taken from my Instagram...
I babysat my two gorgeous little cousins - Taylor and
Baby Logan :)
He has the cutest little smile!
Hyacinth and I at a football tournament we (and Lily)
competed in last week! :D
My boots are the coolest ;D (The really colourful ones)
Sorry I don't have any really good photos from the
tournament - Hyacinth, you should post some of yours!! :)
My friend Charlotte and I went thrift shopping this
morning - which is always fun :D
I love op shopping, because you can almost always find
really cool, unique things, and they are generally a lot
more modest than most brand new things! :) I wish I
had a photo of this amazing dress we found for Charlotte!!
And we're having a party at church tonight which sounds like its going to be fun. I'm not sure if many of my friends are going, but hopefully we will have a good time anyway :)
And just before I go, here are a few things I found recently on Pinterest!

 So true....
See ya later! Love,

Live Each Day

A few days ago, a meteor entered our atmosphere and exploded over the Ural Mountains in Russia. Over 500 people were injured - mainly by broken windows which shattered during the blast, and the eery sounds of car, and mobile phone alarms filled the air. People were, naturally, terrified. They thought it was the end of the world.

Warning: This WILL make you jump :P

A few days ago, a local girl of about 15 was killed in a horrific car accident. She is gone now. No one saw that coming. But her life is over.

Life is short. We have no idea how long we've got. I'm sure those people in Russia thought their lives were over then and there. And I'm sure that girl who was killed didn't ever imagine that that day would be her last.

We can have no idea how long we've got - things change in the blink of an eye, and once you are gone, it is too late.

"It is far better to serve God, then to wish you had."
The day we die could be today, tomorrow, in a week, a month, a year, 5 years, 10, 20, maybe more. We just don't know. And I don't want to waste one single day I get given.

Psalm 90:12 - "Teach us to number our days that we might gain the heart of wisdom."

Life is very fleeting. And it is easy to waste. I don't want to make that mistake. I want to live every day of my life to the very max, serving the Lord with all I have, I want to use each day I have to serve Him, and to bless the people He puts all around me.
"She lived and loved without restraint". That is what I want people to say at my funeral. I want them to say that I lived my life, with every breath I breathed, for God. I want them to say that I was an inspiration to them all to live their lives for God, and to fulfill their God-given desires and purposes. I want them to say that I loved everyone with the love of Christ, that I give all I had to give. I want to be remembered as one who made changes for the better in the world - in my own little corner and everywhere else too. I want people to be able to say that I was always there for my family and friends, and that I could be relied upon, I want people to be able to say that I truly made a difference. And I hope and pray that the Lord will truly fulfil those things within me, and help me to inspire people for Him :)

So I challenge you all to join me in living each day as if it were your very last on this earth. I promise you that it will make you really look twice at the things you are doing, and help you to see what really matters. And it is not short-term personal gain, I can guarantee you that! :D Love the life you've been given, and serve God in all circumstances. Then one day, people will be able to say that you "lived and loved without restraint".

Every Move I Make

Hey everyone!

I've got lots and lots and big posts in the works at the moment, but I until I get a chance to post some of them, a friend of mine shared this with me this evening, and it just really blessed me, so I thought I'd share it, in the hope that it will bless you too :D

"Every step I take, I take it You.
You are my way, Jesus.
Every breath I breathe, I breathe in You.
Waves of mercy, waves of grace,
Everywhere I look, I see Your face.
Your love has captured me.
Oh, my God, this love, how can it be?"

Those lyrics are so true - we are so undeserving, yet God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us, to wipe our sins away if we just repent and turn to Him. What an incredible gift. This song really reminded me of that tonight. The Lord is so, so good!

Haha, um, this is the actual version my friend shared with me :P Its so cute!

And hey, I just realised that this is our 200th post!! :D That's so cool! Congrats, Violet, Hyacinth and Lily :)

Lots of love,

Pure and Holy (Glory of Your Name)

Pure and holy, righteous and always loving in all You do,
Gracious and caring, truthful and wise - How can I be with You?
But though I'm to blame You took my place, my sin and shame washed away
What once was gain I count as loss, to be with You every day
Now I will go, follow Your ways, all for the glory of Your name
Carry my cross, share in Your pain, all for the glory of Your name
Now we must live out what we are singing, loving in all we do
Care for the hungry, hurting and broken - living our lives like You
For in You our pain is washed away, our broken lives restored
Help us to show Your mercy to the least, lost and poor
Now we will go, follow Your ways, all for the glory of Your name
Carry our cross share in Your pain, all for the glory of Your name
In You the chains are broken, in You, the sight's restored
In You we find true freedom
In You the weight is lifted, in You the lame can walk
In You we find true freedom!

Now we will go, follow Your ways, all for the glory of Your name
Carry our cross share in Your pain, all for the glory of Your name

Lyrics by Tim Costley 2006
Love this so, so much!

Are You Waiting?

I just heard an amazing new song by Christian artists Anthem Lights called "Hide Your Love Away", and it got me thinking.... are we really waiting? Are we keeping everything for our future husbands, doing him "good and not evil all the days of our lives"? (Proverbs 31) It's an important question. You may have never met him, or you might have met him but don't know he's the one yet. Or there might be some guy you like now, but how do you know if he's the one?
Whether we think he's the right one for us or not, the Bible teaches us to keep our hearts and minds pure. What are we going to be able to present to our husband one day, when we take our vows? Our whole heart, innocent and complete, or a heart that has loved others, one that we've given away over and over again? Not  just our hearts, but our bodies and minds too. How do we view other guys? What goes through our minds? We are responsible for that too. And physically, do we keep ourselves pure? Are we saving ourselves for our husbands? Even if you've done something in the past that you regret, don't forget that you can be pure from now on - make the decision to keep yourself for your husband now and you will not regret it. And pray for him, even now, even not knowing his name, nationality, age, or height. Pray for him to grow into the godly man that you will honour and respect, the man you will become one with. Pray that he will keep himself pure for you, physically, mentally, and emotionally. And the Lord will bring you both together in His perfect time. :)

Are you waiting?

And watch this short video by Anthem Lights, which explains the meaning behind the song. This topic is one that other artists have addressed, like Rebecca St. James in her song "Wait For Me", but it's great to hear it from young godly men who are trying to make a difference. :)

God bless,

Lincoln is undoubtedly one of the most incredible historical drama films I have ever seen. Steven Spielberg, the director, has done very good work in this film. Whilst it was not the best movie I have ever seen, it is one I would not hesitate to see again :D

The year is 1865, the fourth year of the American Civil War, the setting, mostly Washington DC, as Abraham Lincoln struggles to obtain passage for the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution in the United States House of Representatives - the amendment which would formally abolish slavery in America. The movie is on the longer side, but I remained captivated right up to the end.

The sets are wonderful, and full of beautiful, and historically correct, detail. The costumes, beautiful in the case of the ladies, and very dashing in the case of the men. Almost none of the characters ventured anywhere without a hat - a fact I have to say I really loved. I wish we still wore hats like those today. And I would really love to own some of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln's dresses - they are absolutely stunning! :D The acting is excellent, and the dialogue is most engaging! My favourite quote from the movie is a rather unusual one, which I fully intend to adopt: "Why is this thus? And please explain this thusness!" I can't remember the exact situation in which Lincoln used this quote, but I love it all the same. Something else I loved about this movie was Lincoln's tendency to tell long, and sometimes seemingly pointless stories to people. Some of them were most amusing.
I'm afraid this isn't the best of pictures, but I simply
adore First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln's dress here!

On the whole, this movie is probably more suited to an older audience, because of its primary subject - the abolition of slavery, and some of the violence of the civil war shown. Also, as much of the dialogue is made by politicians, or political leaders, it can be somewhat hard to understand if you don't have a grasp of big words :) I'm afraid some of the language used at some points is not the best, so be aware of that as well. There is also quite an "end justifies the means" message in this movie, but the over-all message of fighting for human equality overrules this sub-message for me. I am delighted to say that there are no "skippy skippy scenes" at all. I got a bit concerned at one point that there might be, but that concern never came to fruition, thankfully!

Lincoln is honestly one of the very best historical movies I have ever seen. It is beautifully, and cleverly presented, and clearly gets across its message. It tells the story of the last part of Lincoln's life in a captivating, and fascinating way - even if it isn't 100% accurate haha. This movie is one I would recommend to anyone who is interested in history. It should be watched with caution, but I can honestly say that this is a movie I loved!

God bless,

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all our wonderful readers! You mean so much to me (and the other bloggers here at Violets and Daisies too!! :D), and I just want to thank you again for your support and for your lovely comments - those comments make my day! :)

Now, I know that traditionally Valentine's Day is a day for telling that "special someone" you love and appreciate them, and while that is a really great idea (although you can can let them know EVERY day, not just today haha), I wanted to let all my friends and family know how much I love and appreciate them :) So here's to my family, and all those I hold dear - thank you for being such an inspiration to me, and for showing me how to love, and live like Jesus, as best you can! I love you all to pieces, and I'm so glad the Lord let me have you as family/friends!!
Thank you so much to those who bear my burdens with
For those of you who have a Valentine, I hope you let them know how much you appreciate them! :D And for those of you without one - I hope you have a very special day too, and that you remember to let all the people around you whom you love know they are loved and appreciated too. And you could pray for any "certain someone" the Lord may have in store for you in the future... :) Oh, also, whilst I think of it - girls, I highly recommend you follow this link, to my favourite blog, God's Daughter, and read this post called A Real Man - it is a really good reminder of the characteristics of a godly man!! :)

And lastly, just because I think this is super cute....

    Happy Valentine's Day, world!

Lord, I want to be just like You!

Recently, our family bought a record player and we are loving listening through our 500 record collection again at long last!!! I have particularly been enjoying listening to old favourites that I haven't heard since I was a child. And the one that sticks out in my mind is Psalty - particularly as Daisy, Lily, Hyacinth and myself were involved in a Psalty production in 2011 that Daisy directed. Well, our family dug out my old Psalty favourite - Kid's Praise #3 - and I fell in love with the music all over again! The song that really stuck out to me is this one:

    Just Like You

I wanna be, Lord, just like You!
In all the good things that I wanna do.
Listen to my heart Lord, yes it's true!
    When You give Your peace
    And You share Your joy
    And You show Your Love
Oh Lord, I wanna be like You.

I want to be like You
    Lord Jesus, yes it's true
I want to be like You
    Give Your peace
    Share Your joy
    Show Your love, Lord
    I wanna be like You!

This has turned into my prayer over the last few days! I struggle all the time to follow the Lord as I should in my daily life and it is so easy for me to grow frustrated at the sin that I must battle with every day, and to forget that the Lord is helping me and with me every step of the way. But it is amazing that the Lord gives us an earnest desire to grow to be more like Him, and this song just awakened that desire in me again. Father, help me to grow to be more like You and to desire to be like You even though it is hard to follow You every day. And may this be the desire of any of my brothers or sisters in Christ if they read this post, that they may remember that:

    and that

    God bless!

    Exciting News :D

Okay, this one requires a drum roll....
Today Violet and I both got our learner's drivers licences!!! :D So exciting, yet so scary too!
There is this really good learning course here in New Zealand which we went on today, which I would recommend to anyone!! :) Neither of us had gotten very far in studying our road codes, but that didn't even matter. The course we went on is 100% free, which is really cool!! The people who run it are absolutely lovely too. You don't have to make an appointment, you just turn up. Its around about a 3 hour course, and they teach you EVERYTHING you need to know to sit your learner's test. In case anyone is interested, follow this link  for our local course :) It is so worth doing!! I mean, its free, and they take you to sit your test, and help you with everything you need helping with! Violet and I actually really enjoyed the course.

The test itself, not so much, but we both passed with only one question wrong, praise the Lord! :D
So now we are both on temporary license (see below) until our proper ones arrive.
And I just went for my first ever drive with my Mum after we dropped Violet home! Sure is exciting :D  Look out world ;)
    So thrilled!! xox

    Photo Comparisons :D

I was comparing the photos from when we first started filming our movie with the ones taken at the premiere this morning, and it sure made me laugh! I can't believe how much we've all grown!!
